The New York Times is running a special section titled “Marathon Tech Review.” They are reviewing tech products every Friday up to the start of the New York Marathon. We’d love to be one of the products they review. Here’s a snippet from their first post:
“Each Friday, I will put to the test e-tools, gadgets and applications that aim to track runners’ progress and help train for the big run. I hope you’ll e-mail me your own tips, tools or other e-wizardry at nytmarathon@gmail.com.” – http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/22/marathon-tech-review-nike-ipod/
If you have a few minutes, drop them an email them and let them know how dailymile has been helpful in your training. Thanks so much!

I’m totally into helping get the word out! Just sent off an email to Danielle Belopotosky, hopefully she reads it…
Here’s what I said, in case anyone wants to do some copy/paste.. I don’t mind the copyright infringement

Hi Danielle,
I’m so excited that you’ll be doing tech reviews for runners. There are a lot of great tools out there to help folks train for their running events. I’ve been using the Nike Plus for a long time… I’m pretty religious about it, actually. I also use the nike training blog to help me with my marathon training schedule.
So, it’s fantastic to have those tools, but one that I’ve been super keen on over the past few months is Dailymile.com. Dailymile is one of those web apps that combines the tracking tools (which all marathoners absolutely love) with the a huge online community. Then it gives members the added motivation of racing each other through their “Training Stats” tool. Not to mention messaging and connections with runners/marathoners. The guys who built the application are runners themselves, so they build tools that are useful for their own training, making the product that much better.
Check it out, there’s even a little mapping feature that’s pretty nifty. I think I log into dailymile just about as often as I check my email… I don’t know if I should admit to that, but I will.
Thanks for keeping us up to date on gadgetwise, I’m loving it.
Kathy
PS: I ran the NYC Marathon Last year, and hopefully will get into the 2009 marathon through the lottery system.
